Youth Sports Registration Procedure
February 2006
Dear Sports League Participant:
The Town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks & Recreation Department has launched a new registration format for all of its youth sport leagues (baseball, softball, soccer, etc.) Although your son or daughter will still be allowed to register and play for the existing teams and organizations which have participated in years' past, this new format will also assist our department in contacting new players who aren't aware of past procedures.
To register this year, we ask that you complete the form on the back of the informational flyer of your sport of interest. The information requested is for both the family and participant and must be filled out completely for our records. There is space to indicate the coach or team
your wish to play for. Although every effort will be made to accommodate all requests, please give us a total of three options.
If you plan on registering with specific organization (St. John the Baptist, Blessed Sacrament, St. Amelia's, St. Andrew's, St. Edmund's), please contact their parish athletic association.
Regarding the registration fees, each program fee is listed on the informational flyers which are enclosed. If you are registering with one of the specific organizations listed above, the fee they will charge will include the town fee along with their additional costs such as uniforms or parties. If you are registering at the Youth, Parks & Recreation Office, we will only collect the initial registration fee, but please be aware you may incur some additional costs (uniforms, parties, etc.) once your child is placed on a specific team. Additional costs will not be added for the t-ball/modified pitch program.
Another change we are instituting in our sports programs is the inclusion of non-resident players. In order to safeguard the interests of our residents and to determine roster availability, each program will have a one-month period where only residents will be able to register followed by a two-week open registration period for all interested non-resident participants.
Although this new registration process may be a little overwhelming at first, I'm confident this new system will better serve the needs of our participants. I look forward to seeing you during the season and if you have any questions, please feel free to call me at the Youth, Parks & Recreation Office at 831-1001.
Sincerely,
Daniel J. Wiles, Director
